And the Back to the Future 30th Celebration continues. Three days ago Pepsi formally announced that they are going to be selling an extremely limited edition commemorative Pepsi bottle of the one seen in Back to the Future II.
It will go on sale Wednesday, October 21st, and it will only be available online through Amazon. The retail price is $20.15— an obvious homage to the “future” in part 2. There is a way to score a bottle before the sale date, but you’d have to attend the New York Comic Con which kicks off today. Pepsi will have their own booth and today they’re doing two free giveaways to the first 200 people who come dressed as Marty McFly (Must wear: puffy red vest or Back to the Future Part II jacket, blue jeans, white high-top sneakers, watch and the hoverboard is optional). After just looking up the details, it already happened today from 11am-noon and at 1-2pm. However at 3pm each day they’ll have the Quick Draw Wild Gunman Style contest and the high scorers will win a bottle.
Pepsi is only making 6,500 of these and of course they’ll be expected to sell rather quick. I’m intrigued of course, but I’m curious if these will be glass or plastic bottles. I’d hope for glass, for longevity and preservation, but none the less each bottle will come with it’s own plastic display case.
